About Ellie

Ellie is a registered chestnut Morgan mare, foaled May 15, 1999.

We purchased her January 28, 2012 from Moonridge Morgans in Preston, ID. She is a half-sister to our Morgan gelding, Shrek (Hang N Flirtin with Fire). See his blog link below.

Sadly, she went to heavenly pastures on November 22, 2016 due to the effects of a tumor on her kidney that was the size of a volleyball. We miss her so much!

She was originally going to be named "Pure Elegance" with the nickname of Ellie (spelled by Wendy as Eli). Pure Elegance was changed to Lady Haux, but she kept the nickname.

We changed the spelling to "Ellie" to be more feminine.

It is a variant of Alice, Eloise or Ella (Old German), Elaine, Eleanor, Helen or Ellen (Greek). The meaning is "noble, exalted; sun ray, shining light; famous warrior."
